The cultural city department of Karlsruhe asked us to imagine possibilities to alter or camouflage existing power boxes within public spaces in the city.

,

With the first proposal we decided to take a different approach to integrating these electricity boxes into the cityscape—our goal is to embed them as an architectural element. We use various minimalist extensions which create a new form and invite people to participate: Small steps, superstructures and sculptural interventions allow the electricity box to become part of the active urban landscape. They form resting places and create spontaneous, casual meeting points.

Our second proposal uses subjects from everyday urban life and translates them into the format of aluminium applications. The principle of the ubiquitous embroidered electricity boxes is humorously reinterpreted and becomes a design approach.
